Castle College Nottingham is part of the United Kingdom's state-funded education system and is located to the west of the city. Nottingham is one of the UK's most attractive and fast-developing cities and has excellent road, airport and rail links. Castle College Nottingham celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1999, and despite being a key provider of education and training, it has remained small and friendly with around 2000 full-time students. The College works closely with The British Council and Education Counselling Service to offer the opportunity to study in the UK to an increased number of international students. The College was one of the first to welcome international students, and has over 25 years' experience of catering for their needs. There are now over 400 international students at the college from 40 different countries. Castle College's high standard of international student support was recognised once again this year when the College won the British Council sponsored Beacon Award for International Student Support. The College also won the award in 1998/99 and was highly commended in 2000/01. Students can choose from an extensive range of courses, including English as a Foreign Language, GCSEs, AS/A Levels, Higher National Diplomas and International Foundation courses providing a route to The University of Nottingham, De Montfort University and several other well-known British universities. Castle College has its own accommodation for international students in a newly built block of college flats. Accommodation is also available in homestay or in shared student houses.
