Bilborough College is a sixth form college situated on the west side of the city. In September 2005 we moved into a brand new purpose built facility incorporating all modern technologies. The college caters for 1600 students, aged 16-19 years old, wanting to study AS and A levels in an academic, supportive and sociable environment. Bilborough College is one of the country's Top 10 Sixth Form Colleges. The college takes students from 48 city and county schools. In both 2004, 2005 and 2006 over ninety-eight per cent of students passed their A-levels. Ofsted recently recognised the achievements of the college by presenting it with a 'Particularly successful college' award. At Bilborough we are able to meet all requests for subject combinations no matter how unusual. We also provide our students with excellent careers advice. We have been awarded the national 'Career Mark' for quality provision and we also have a college careers and guidance counsellor on site. Our size, although larger than a school sixth form, enables us to educate the individual. Guidance and support is always available through our dedicated student support team. All our teaching staff are personal tutors and experienced in teaching AS and A2. Throughout the year students have numerous opportunities to meet individually with staff to review their progress academically and to ask for help and advice. A student's course of study includes Key Skills and an extensive Enrichment programme which helps develop wider key skills. As part of enrichment the students are offered a number of activities ranging from Sport and Recreation to Debating. Bilborough sees itself as a sixth form college offering a good stepping stone to the future. It offers students the chance to experience meeting new people, develop learning styles and skills before going onto Higher Education or Employment.
